I love Korean food and when I first heard about Nipong Naepong, I was excited. Nipong Naepong is the first fusion jjamppong specialty restaurant in Singapore. And, in case you were wondering what jjamppong is, according to wiki, it is "a Korean Chinese noodle soup with red, spicy seafood- or pork-based broth flavored with gochutgaru (chili powder). Common ingredients include onions, garlic, Korean zucchini, carrots, cabbages, squid, mussels, and pork". Sounds delicious, doesn't it? So, without further ado, here's my experience at Nipong Naepong.

As it's a new restaurant, the queue and waiting time for the food were quite long, however, good food is worth the wait, right? So, here are my opinions on their food:

1. Cha Ppong ($15.80)

A combination of seafood, quail eggs, cabbage and spice, you get to choose between level 1 or level 2 for the spiciness. As it was our first time trying this, we went for level 1 and oh my, it was really quite spicy IMO, especially since your throat starts to burn after swallowing the broth. But despite the spice, it is flavourful and rather satisfying. Honestly, I would not mind getting this again haha xD

2. Il Ppong ($15.80)

The level of spiciness is mild for this one. If you have eaten Cha Ppong, you probably wouldn't find this spicy. According to them, this is Jap inspired "with light mussel broth". Indeed, the mussel broth made this really sweet and tasty. Love the taste of seafood? This is for you.

3. Vongole Ppong ($16.80)

Like the Il Ppong, this is slightly spicy, however instead of a light mussel broth, this broth contains white wine, garlic and the taste of seafood(mussels and shellfish, which they were very very generous with), definitely a very fragrant and tasty broth, it's no wonder this is one of their best sellers.

4. Ni Nae Pizza Spinach ($18.80)

As much as the noodles were delicious and springy, their pizza is also something that is worth trying. This pizza, for example, is topped with a generous amount of baby spinach, cherry tomatoes and very rich cream cheese. It was very refreshing and special given how it is different from our typical Italian pizzas because 1. The pizza crust is thin and crispy as it's actually made of tortilla wrap and 2. this pizza we had was sweet, which made it stand out from the savoury pizzas which are more common. It was a total indulgence, which has made me crave for more tbh.

In conclusion, my experience at Nipong Naepong was a pleasant one and in my opinion, it was worth it as they were rather generous with their servings. The restaurant is located at JEM in Jurong East. And currently, they are having a one-for-one promo for all of their ppongs, simply download the Burpple app and flash the promo on the Burpple app upon ordering to enjoy this promo, which is valid till 30th April 2018!
