Finally made a trip to the east yesterday to try out the food at the highly raved about Pasir Ris Central Hawker Centre. I must say that I am totally amazed by the variety of food available there and the place. For one, the food is really appealing to the younger generation(at least for me) and the tables and lighting allow for nice food pictures to be taken, totally different from other hawker centres in Singapore. But anyways, apart from the appearance of the place, time to talk about the food.

I tried the Griddled Prawns with Wolfberry Wine Sauce($6.50) from Tasty Street. Really yummy bowl of rice, they were rather generous with the prawns which were really fresh too. Also had the Cream of Mushroom($4.50) from The Stew House which admittedly is one of the best I have ever had, they were very generous with the mushrooms, which made the soup unlike the typical creamy mushroom soups which usually come with only small bits of mushrooms. Finally, for dessert, we had the Banana Split($7.50-for premium and super premium ice cream-I chose the dark chocolate and the rum and raisin flavour), and Waffle+Ice Cream($4.80, opted for the classic ice cream-strawberry flavoured). I would say that i was pleasantly surprise to see an ice cream shop in a hawker centre and honestly the ice cream and waffles didn’t really disappoint though my only complaint is that the rum and raisin ice cream was a slightly sweeter than I expected and the taste of the rum was not strong enough. Other than that, the strawberry ice cream was ok, and the dark choc ice cream was, in my opinion, the best among the 3 flavours. So. The Verdict: if you haven’t already done so, go check out this place. It was a trip worth travelling for me, and personally, i would go all the way there again. Oh well, I guess it’s time that I explore the east, yeah?
